First Monthly Dinner Party
Fri 28 Apr 2006 No CommentsWe had our first monthly dinner party last week. Corrie, Matt, Brian and Todd joined Michelle and I for some amazing Indian food. Michelle was the chef and cooked up Chicken and Green Bean Coconut Curry and Carrot Pachadi. Both were divine. It might seem like I’m piling on the praise but dinner was fantastic. I have to admit, I made the carrots but Michelle picked the recipe.
After cashew appetizers, great conversation, several beers and dinner, it was time to play Dibs. I love Dibs. Basically a trivia game, in Dibs your piece moves if you answer the multiple choice question correctly. The twist is in the order in which you answer the question. After the category is revealed, you put down a card from 2 to 5. Twos answers first and fives answer last. Everyone answers the question but you can’t use any of the previous answers. If you answer the question right, your piece moves the amount on your card. The first one to the end wins. I’ve won both times I’ve played and hence love Dibs. Actually, I love Dibs for the fun and—the best part—Matt Pope. He answers every question with passion. A Virginian accented passion that emerges after a few drinks. His antics make me laugh and laugh.
After Dibs, Matt, Brian and I got the band back together for some impromptu piano and accordion free form jazz.

Now I understand.
